[3/31/2010]--Andrew Sears, professor and chair of the Department of Information Systems, delivered a keynote talk at a forum addressing the importance of Accessible Health Information Technology for People with Disabilities. The event, “Stakeholders Forum on Requirements for Accessible Health Information Technology (HIT) for People with Disabilities” was sponsored by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) and initiated a cross-network conversation among public health, disability and HIT/IT experts, with the goal of informing the future development of national objectives for accessible health communication and health IT as part of Healthy People 2020, a set of national health objectives being developed through a process lead by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The forum was rich with dialogue from distinguished colleagues in the health information technology, accessibility and disability and public health fields from government, academia, Non-Governmental Organizations and industry sectors.
