Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Tony Moreira has been recently appointed by the President of the Republic of Portugal as an “Advisor of Portugal in the World.”

The goal for members of the World Portuguese Network is to strengthen the relationships between Portugal and its diaspora, including Portuguese citizens and those of Portuguese descent. Through these relationships, the Network wishes to universally affirm the values and culture that unite all Portuguese, elevate the reputation of Portugal, and support the development and prosperity of Portugal.

As a member, Dr. Moreira will focus on developing partnerships in the health sector and how innovations in higher education at UMBC and in the U.S. concerning student success can be shared with–and adapted to–the Portuguese higher education system.
