UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski is the 2015 recipient of the Ralph Coats Roe Medal, which is awarded by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The Ralph Coe Medal was presented at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, and recognizes “an outstanding contribution toward a better public understanding and appreciation of the engineer’s worth to contemporary society.”
President Hrabowski addressed the ASME annual meeting and set forth the challenge to be “thought leaders” to develop creative strategies to create experiences that will encourage students to pursue STEM fields.
