[9/20/2010]--The Center for Women and Information Technology (CWIT) is pleased to introduce our 9th class of CWIT Scholars this fall. This year’s freshman cohort is made up of fourteen highly qualified Engineering and Information Technology students, and also includes CWIT’s 100th Scholar since the program began in 2002!
The CWIT community is growing and now totals 103 students; is 2/3 female and includes students from all departments in the college. In addition to serving our CWIT and SITE Scholars, there are 33 Affiliates, new freshmen and transfer students, who will be actively involved in CWIT’s programming and supporting each other. Through the Affiliates program CWIT is increasing its outreach to create connections and a greater sense of community for all women students in the College.
The fall semester started off with a bang at our first annual CWIT Open House where one hundred students, faculty, and staff came to mingle and learn more about CWIT’s programs. Each month this semester, our new Women in Technology Speaker Series will bring talented and successful women from industry to campus to speak with students in the CWIT community and college about preparing for their future in the workplace.
