"Take a Bite Out of Stress!" - The Spring 2013 Shark Week-Themed Stress Free Zone T-Shirt |
by Craig Berger
SGA, The Gaming Club, Active Minds, the Peer Health Educators, the Counseling Center, and the Gender and Women's Studies Department are all teaming up to host the end-of-semester Stress Free Zone beginning next Wednesday, May 15, and ending Friday, May 17.
Come to the Student Organization Space on the 2nd floor of The Commons between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day for this semester's Shark Week-themed event, filled with game-playing arranged by members of The Gaming Club, a massage therapist (Thursday, the 16th, from 11-1) and an acupuncturist (TBD) from University Health Services, and free snacks and t-shirts.
In addition to the conventional Stress Free Zone in the Student Organization Space, there will be two opportunities to relieve your stress by hanging out with some dogs:
- On May 15, from 11-2, the Gender and Women's Studies Department and SGA are sponsoring a Puppy Picnic on The Quad, where you can stop and get a bite to eat and play with some puppies.
- On May 16, also from 11-2, some pooches from Karma Dogs will visit UMBC thanks to the work of the UMBC Counseling Center, Active Minds, and SGA.
This is the 17th Stress Free Zone. How did the whole thing get started back in spring 2005? The answer is here.
Best of luck as you write your final papers and prepare for your final exams!
