We're asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.
Name: Anthony Costulas
Name: Anthony Costulas
Hometown: Pittsburgh
Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: Roughly 4 months
Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?
A: I work as the Assistant Community Director in Harbor Hall.
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: I advise students to improve the projects they take that build community. Shorter Answer: I support students.
Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?
A: I think the best part of what I do is the fact that I get to spend a good part of my day just brainstorming with students. I love sitting around and discussing ways that they can improve the building they live in. Sometimes, trying to find different ways to reach students can be like a puzzle. It's a great feeling when you work together to figure it out and find the answer.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: I think the most important thing I learned in college is that the best way to make the most out of those 4 years is to be as involved as possible. The more you participate, the better chance you have of uncovering those opportunities that are hidden all over campus. Sometimes you learn more outside of the classroom then you could ever dream of learning within.
Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"
A: Netflix television (particularly Arrested Development).
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
A: I've been here a short period of time, but I'm coming from a school where literally, the city sidewalks are your campus. This is a big change for me, so it's fantastic just to walk around the campus at night. I know it sounds strange, but before coming here, I never realized how much I missed fresh air. It's a beautiful campus.
