Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland
Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: This is the second semester of my 4th year at UMBC
Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?
A: I'm the Student Assistant Team Leader in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation, the Internal Organization Coordinator for the Leadership Consultants, and an IHU Peer Mentor here at UMBC.
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: I help prospective and new students discover what makes UMBC unique.
Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?
A: I love being a part of the Admissions and Orientation experience at UMBC. In the Admissions office, I could meet a student while giving a tour, assist them as they fill out an application, walk them through the enrollment and orientation process, and then help them learn more about UMBC during Welcome Week. In order to find our place at UMBC, we all had to start at the beginning and that's where I come in. I like being one of the first faces [or voices] that a student can use as a reference point to ask about everything UMBC related.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: It's so easy to get comfortable with where you are after accomplishing a set of goals. What I’ve learned is that after you achieve one series of goals, it’s best to create a whole new list of things to accomplish so you never stay content with where you are. I’ve applied this to my grades, involvement, and daily tasks. In order to be the best at what I do, I have to keep chasing goals, and setting the bar higher for myself every chance I get.
Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"
A: Watching Scrubs, the Orioles, the arts, Childish Gambino, and random acts of kindness.
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
A: I was excited to see that UMBC booked Donald Glover for Homecoming '11 because I've been a big fan of his for a while now. When I got to show and he arrived on stage, I noticed that we were wearing the exact same thing, except he had on a cardigan, and, coincidentally, I had on the same blue hoodie that he was wearing on the front page of his website at the time.

After the show, I left the RAC and I kept noticed people around me doing double takes as I walked through the crowd with my friend. I kept hearing whispers saying, ""is that Donald?"" and ""wasn't Donald just on stage?"" As I walked over to Outtakes in the dining hall after the show, everyone I walked past on the way kept doing double takes because they thought Donald Glover was just casually strolling around the UMBC campus.
As I'm about to go into Outtakes, this girl comes up behind me yelling, ""Donald! Donald Glover!"" It took a while to realize she was talking to me the entire time. I guess I should thank the UMBC community for helping me to realize that if this degree thing doesn't work out, I can always just be Donald Glover's stunt double.
