CNMS Advising for FALL 2020 Need help? How to get in contact with your major advisor!
The CNMS Advising Team is happy to welcome new and returning life science students to the start of the FALL 2020 semester!

During these unprecedented times, CNMS advisors will be working remotely yet remain accessible to students via email as well as through virtual meetings. Availability and scheduling methods will vary throughout the semester to accommodate the flow and demand of advising needs.

Please use this email in order to receive help with direct or simple questions. This is a joint email address that is shared with all professional CNMS Advisors. Response times can range from 24-48 business hours based on demand. Be sure to email from an UMBC email address and include a CampusID in all university communications.

Appointments: 

Please schedule an appointment with a CNMS advisor if you need help with more complex questions. All appointments will be held via Google Meet. Please consult your confirmation email for the virtual meeting link.

RETURNING STUDENTS:

Please reach out to your assigned advisor. Advising assignments from Spring 2020 are still in effect until the start of the advising season in early to mid October. A list of advising assignments and contact information can be found here. Faculty advisors will have varied availability and accessibility procedures in place.

The CNMS Advising Office is in the process of completing advising assignments for FALL 2018 registration. Please keep in mind that advising is mandatory at UMBC and that you will want to follow up with your assigned academic advisor upon receiving our email notification which is set to be released sometime during the week of March 12th. Make sure that you are monitoring your UMBC email for further instructions and -- in the meantime -- begin reviewing your Degree Audit (myUMBC>>Guide>>Advising & Student Support>>Degree Audit) and aim to clear any/all university holds that may restrict you from registration (i.e. financial aid/health/billing etc.).

Important Advising Season Dates:

* Week of 3/12/18 -- Advising Assignments Released Via Email
* March, 26th, 2018 -- Fall 2018 Schedule of Classes Available
* April 3rd, 2018 -- Advanced Registration for Fall 2018 Begins (Based on Earned Credits)
* April 9th, 2018 -- Last Day to Drop a Class with a "W"
* April 20th, 2018 -- ALL Students are Eligible to Register
