    <div class="html-content">Greetings, CNMS students!<div><br></div><div>This is a friendly reminder to check your grades today! This is important for a number of reasons:</div><div><br></div><div>-If you are on academic probation, your grades will determine whether you stay on probation or go up for suspension, although you will not be notified of this <strong>until January 10, when transcripts are updated</strong>. </div><div><br></div><div>-While your individual grades will be posted today, your <strong>transcript with cumulative GPA will not be updated until January 10!</strong> If you need your cumulative GPA to fill out internship applications or want to know whether you will be on academic probation, you can calculate your GPA using this handy tool: <a href="https://gpacalculator.net/college-gpa-calculator/">https://gpacalculator.net/college-gpa-calculator/</a></div><div><br></div><div>-Have you earned your prerequsites AND the grades you need in those prerequisites to continue? <strong>Many STEM courses require you to earn a C or better in prerequisites!</strong> If you did not earn a C or better, you should think about repeating a course. Planning to go to medical school, for instance? You will need a C or better in chemistry!</div><div><br></div><div>-Use your grades from the fall to reflect on a balanced schedule and think about any changes you might want to make in the spring semester.</div><div><br></div><div>Questions?     <div class="html-content"><div>CNMS Advising is excited to welcome students back to campus and to officially kick off the Fall 2021 semester! <br></div><div><br></div><div>Our office will be holding <strong>both in-person and online appointments</strong> throughout the schedule adjustment period (until September 14th).</div><div><br></div><div> During this time -- and to comply with social distancing restrictions -- <strong>walk-in advising appointments will NOT be permitted</strong> however we will be offering same day appointment opportunities. <br></div><div><br></div><div>All advising sessions can<a href="https://calendly.com/cnms-advising" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> be scheduled via our online appointment calendar here</a>. As a reminder -- however -- <strong>CNMS
     Advising support is reserved for new/incoming students as well as those

    <div class="html-content"><span><p><span>The First-Generation Workgroup &amp; Off-Campus Student 
    Services Office are kicking off the <strong>2021 First-Generation Peer 
    Mentoring Program (FGPMP)</strong>. <br></span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span><strong>*** <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/ocss/posts/98762" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Additional information regarding this opportunity can be found here</a> as well as below. Consider participating and making a difference! ***</strong><br></span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>FGPMP is 
    designed to support the success of current first-time and full-time 
    first-generation students at UMBC. At UMBC, first-generation students 
    are defined as <strong>"a student who is the first in their immediate family to 
    attend college".</strong> Students that take part in this program can expect to 
    meet other first-generation students and become a part of a large, 
    supportive community that works to share resources, find lasting 
    friendships and connections, and create an impactful college experience.
     </span><span>Please be aware that<strong> in order to be a mentor,
     you must have completed at least one year as a student at UMBC and 
    mentees must be within their first year at UMBC</strong>.</span></p><p><span>Participants
     of the FGPMP will also have the opportunity to take part in a series of

Are you a sophomore, junior, or senior interested in supporting freshman first-generation students within your major of study or interest area? If you answered “yes” to either of those questions, this is an opportunity that you may be interested in.</span></p><br><p><span>In collaboration with the First-Generation Network, Off-Campus Student Services is incredibly excited to announce the First-Generation Peer Mentoring Program (FGPMP). FGPMP is designed to support the success of current first-time and full-time first-generation students at UMBC. Students that take part in this program can expect to meet other first-generation students and become a part of a large, supportive community that works to share resources, find lasting friendships and connections, and create an impactful college experience. TLC offers resources and programming to CNMS students to aid them in being successful in STEM. Within the center, there are four different pillars: Science Exploration, Career Readiness, Personal Development, and Diversity in STEM.
