This is an outage that has to occur, scheduling it overnight allows us to be the least intrusive.

This outage is separate from the short house water outage scheduled the next morning. Thank you for your attention to this necessary maintenance. 

The scheduled power outage to address the emergency power operations in the building is scheduled for next Wednesday morning November 4th, around 5AM. During this time we will be observing the emergency generators and the individual breaker boxes and outlets to make sure they are operating the way we designed them to operate. If you noticed any emergency power outlets fail during the outage last weekend, please let me know as this is the time to address the problem before unexpected outages happen with winter approaching.

We will be having our biosafety cabinets tested and certified from Nov 9th through the 11th. If there are any time constraints or you need to have them schedule around your experiments, please let me know. 

Otherwise, I will let you know when they are scheduled to be in the building. 

In order to check the emergency power switchover in the building which seemed to be an issue this past weekend, we will need to run a controlled outage to identify problems associated with the emergency power switchover. We found several areas in the building which did not operate as they were designed and we need it identify the source of the issues. 

We know room 471 had issues along with the sub basement areas. Anywhere else that had issues specific to emergency power no switching over, please let me know. Emergency power outlets are identified by having red outlets. The specific time has not been determined, but I will keep everyone in the loop.

Hot water  in the restrooms and labs along with the hot water to the hvac system and dishwashers will be affected, although with the length of the outage shouldn't be badly effected.
