NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program
Biochemical, Environmental, and MOlecular Research in Engineering (BEMORE)

We are now accepting applications for the BEMORE REU program at UMBC. For best consideration, please submit your applications by March 10, 2023.

BEMORE is a new REU program that will prepare students to address knowledge gaps, develop new technologies, and bring unique perspectives to complex problems in biochemical and environmental engineering and science.

Students that join the BEMORE REU Site will gain the interdisciplinary knowledge, skills, and training to address a variety of grand challenges, including antibiotic resistance, sustainable plastic replacements, smart polymers, urban air quality, bio-based sensors, and more. Program details:
  • May 31, 2023 - August 10, 2023
  • $6000 stipend, travel allowance, and free on-campus housing
  • Access to state-of-the-art laboratories
  • Work with a team of two faculty members and other students
  • Learn about current issues in biochemical and environmental engineering and science
  • Enjoy field trips, group activities, and our awards banquet

Eligibility:
  • All majors are welcome to apply
  • Current student at a two- or four-year college or university
  • US citizen or permanent resident

140+ organizations will be in one place recruiting UMBC talent.  Open to all UMBC students and alumni!

How can you be successful at the fair?
  • First impressions are important. We strongly encourage all participants to dress in professional, business casual attire and to bring several printed copies of your most up-to-date resume (around 10-15 copies) to share with employers and internship providers during the fair.
  • Make sure your resume shines, check out our resume writing page. Then get your resume critiqued by attending our drop-in hours (M-W, 2-4 p.m.), virtual express appointments (Th-F, 2-4 p.m.), Resume Rescue day (Feb. 15) or scheduling an appointment with the Career Center.
  • Research the employers attending the event in advance and prepare intelligent questions. Check out our Career Fair Directory to learn which employers are attending and what they are recruiting for.
  • Practice your 30-second commercial aka your "pitch". Be sure to check out our micro session: Perfect Your Pitch (30-Second Commercial).

Student/alumni job-seeker registration is NOT required.
