Lee Blaney (CBEE, Assistant Professor), Kiranmayi Mangalgiri (PhD, Environmental Engineering), and Nicholas Rogers (BS, Chemical Engineering) presented at the International Water Association Natural Organic Matter 6 conference in Malmo, Sweden on September 7-10, 2015.  Their travel to this conference was covered by a travel grant written to the NSF Environmental Engineering program (CBET 1521562) by Blaney and a group of other young faculty (Michael Gonsior from UMCES was the PI).

Congratulations to Lee Blaney, who has recently been awarded three separate NSF grants for the following topics:

1.  Class-specific transformations of antibiotics in UV-based water/wastewater treatment processes

2.  Photolysis of environmentally-relevant organometallic compounds in aqueous matrices

3.  GOALI:  Sustainable phosphorus recovery from agricultural waste 

Lee Blaney, CBEE Assistant Professor, was invited to give a talk at the first TEDxUMBC conference last fall.

Congratulations to three CBEE students who recently won the prestigious Tau Beta Pi Scholarships! These are awarded based on "high scholarship, strong faculty recommendations, definite extracurricular contributions, unusual promise of substantial achievement through a definite plan or purpose, and a program through which accomplishment will advance the interest of the engineering profession.
