Position: Education Intern
Real Food Farm is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist with education programming and program development. The candidate should have experience working with youth of diverse ages and backgrounds in an experience-based setting. Knowledge of farming, agriculture, and/or environmental education would strengthen the candidate’s application but is not required. The Education Intern will be supervised by the Education Coordinator, and will work as part of a team as well as individually when completing projects and facilitating activities with youth. Students seeking a degree related to education, public health, nutrition, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Afternoon work hours are preferred; some Saturdays are required.
Responsibilities include:
• Helping to plan a high school youth summit about food justice, planned for April 30, 2016. This will include regular meetings with our high school youth crew and planning partners to determine the workshops, meals, and outreach to participants.
• Helping to plan and facilitate a day of hands-on urban agriculture workshops on May 7, 2016.
• Facilitating field trip and service learning activities alongside other farm staff.
• Up to 4 hours weekly, depending on interest, assisting the production staff on the farm.
• Other responsibilities designated by the Education Coordinator.
This position is funded by the Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change. You are required to intern for at least 120 hours (8-10 per week) and will be paid a total of $1,500 (divided into two payments).
