McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a global leader in flavor, is seeking an Engineering Co-op in its Hunt Valley Plant located in Hunt Valley, MD. This is a Winter through Summer Co-op (January-August 2016) which requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Reporting to the Engineering/Maintenance Manager, the Engineering Co-Op will be focused on supporting the execution of projects at the Hunt Valley Plant. This individual will work in a team environment with engineering, production, maintenance, supply chain, and quality teams. Responsibilities of this position include supporting lead project engineers and the project teams in all aspects of capital project development and execution.

Responsibilities of this position include supporting lead project engineers and the project teams in all aspects of capital project development and execution.
Actual activities will vary depending on phase of projects in progress, but in general may include:
- Assist project engineers with project concept development and scoping
- Evaluating alternatives to find the best solution
- Establishing design criteria and performance specifications for new equipment and submitting requests for quote to equipment manufacturers
- Reviewing vendor quotes and making equipment selection recommendations.
- Develop project budgets and detail estimates
- Generating and modifying CAD drawings
- Providing technical support for equipment installations
- Overseeing/assisting in equipment checkout, commissioning, and startup
- Attending equipment specific training classes and working with vendor reps during startup
- Attending offsite inspections of new equipment and Factory Acceptance Tests
- Working with electrical engineers on controls design and PLC programming
- Generating and maintaining project action lists and schedules
- Managing vendors and contractors
- Managing small capital projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled as an engineering undergraduate for the 2015-2016 school year.
- Completed Sophomore level status or higher towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 2.6.
- Ability to commit to full time (40 hours), five days per week (M-F).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, and be self-motivated in a fast paced, results focused, manufacturing plant.
- Capable of multitasking and managing a varying and flexible workload.
- Strong organization and planning skills with ability to manage details.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- SAP experience
- Microsoft Access experience
