Applications are now being accepted for a Research Assistant position, funded through the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and the Center for Research and Exploration in Space Science and Technology (CRESST), to work in the Center for Astrobiology at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).
The successful candidate will work closely with the education lead and
other scientists to develop the specifications for the webpage templates and to recommend use of emerging Web technologies. The selected candidate will have knowledge and experience in Web applications, programming languages such as PHP, CSS 3, Java, Javascript, and HTML5, and familiarity with mobile-compatible web design practices. The position also requires some familiarity with graphics programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent applications, to help create or refine graphic designs animations and videos for the website. Prior experience in website development is highly desirable.
The candidate will work on-site at the NASA/GSFC in Greenbelt Maryland, and be employed under the Goddard-University of Maryland CRESST cooperative agreement. The position is expected to be part-time, i.e. 10-20 hours per week during the academic year, with an opportunity for full-time in the summer – beginning June, 2014. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, consistent with University policies.
