The Resume: Your 15-Second Chance to an Interview
· If you are applying for internships or jobs, you will need a well crafted resume. Carefully crafted resumes are your key to obtaining invitations to interviews. Resumes should be tailored to the positions for which you are applying.
· Employers use resumes to judge qualifications and skills as they relate to the available position.
· A resume can be considered a brief commercial. The goal of a resume is to convince the reader to invest in what you have to offer.
· Parts of a Resume: Contact Information, Objective, Education, Course Projects, Work Experience, Special Skills and Training, Professional Memberships, Publications, Presentations, Activities, Military History, Honors/Awards, Travel/Study Abroad Interests

Cover Letters
· A cover letter is required whenever you are not present to personally introduce your resume, unless the employer specifically states that they do not want cover letters.
· Employers want to see how you are able to communicate through the written word and this is your first opportunity to show them your abilities and to make the best first impression possible.
· The cover letter provides you with the opportunity to introduce yourself, express your interest in a position, offer extra, and show your personality.
