The office of marketing and communications at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center manages marketing, advertising, internal communications, Web sites, media relations, public affairs, social media, graphic design, collateral, some events and many other projects.
The marketing and communications internship is part-time and an unpaid volunteer position. Free parking and a meal voucher are provided. A tuberculosis (TB) test, flu shot and confidentiality agreement are required.
Candidates need strong writing and computer skills, a commitment to customer service, knowledge of social media and an interest in marketing and communications.
We are looking for a team player who is willing to work with others and build relationships in and out of our department.
Possible tasks and duties include:
• draft a variety of public relations and marketing materials, such as press
• releases, Web site copy, copy for signage, etc.
• write articles for internal and external publications
• use graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) to create promotional pieces
• contribute to social media planning and content development
• help coordinate internal events and external seminars
• edit and proofread pieces
• archive publications
• update media contact list
• attend client/project meetings with other team members
• research for various projects
• participate in a wide variety of public relations, marketing, communications and advertising initiatives manage delivery of posters and newsletters around campus
• assist with general office duties such as answering phones, distributing mail, etc.
