Project: Digital Storytelling Workshop with Black Yield Institute

Section 1758 covers technologies that are used to support the production of advanced semiconductors and gas turbine engines.
These technologies include:
• Gallium Oxide (Ga2O3) and diamond are materials that allow semiconductors that use them to work under more severe conditions, such as at higher voltages or higher temperatures. Devices that utilize these materials have significantly increased military potential.
• Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD )is a category of software tools used for designing, analyzing, optimizing, and validating the performance of integrated circuits or printed circuit boards with Gate-All-Around Field-Effect Transistor (GAAFET) structure. ECAD software is used in a variety of applications by the military and aerospace defense industries for designing complex integrated circuits.
• Pressure Gain Combustion (PGC) technology has the extensive potential for terrestrial and aerospace applications, including rockets and hypersonic systems. BIS has added controls on development and production technology for combustors that are not described on the U.S. Munitions List.
The ORPC has reached out to specific faculty and investigators with labs in departments who may be aware of or are thinking of using such technologies or materials. However, if anyone in the campus community is broadly aware of such use, the ORPC would be happy to reach out to review and discuss. We'll share information that we have.

Please join NSF's Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) for an informational webinar about the Build and Broaden program on September 8, 2022, from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern.
The Build and Broaden program supports cutting-edge research, training opportunities and new research infrastructure in the social, behavioral and economic sciences at minority-serving institutions, including historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions and tribal colleges and universities.
This event will feature:
- Presentations from SBE program directors Enrique Pumar, Josie Miranda and Lee Walker about the Build and Broaden program.
- A Q&A session for participants to ask questions.
Advanced registration is required. Register for the Build and Broaden webinar.
