<Title>Pilot Grants for Clinical and Translational Research</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><span>Dear Colleagues,</span></div><div><br></div><div>Please note that UMBC applicants are eligible for the clinical and translational research pilot grant programs announced below, which are being run by UMB:</div><div><br></div><div>=====================</div><div><br></div><div>September 27, 2022</div><div><br></div><div>Dear Colleagues:</div><div> </div><div>The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) is pleased to announce two pilot grant funding opportunities: the <strong>UMB ICTR Accelerated Translational Incubator Pilot (ATIP) Grant Program</strong> and the <strong>UMB ICTR Community Engagement Research (CEnR) Pilot Grant Program</strong>.  </div><div> </div><div>The<strong> UMB ATIP Grant program</strong> will provide starter funds for projects specifically focused on innovative, translational research that involve multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary collaborations among faculty from the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Law, Social Work, Graduate School, UMBC, and UMCP. </div><div> </div><div>The<strong> UMB CEnR Pilot Grant</strong> will provide starter funds for projects specifically focused on innovative Community-Engaged Research (CEnR). <Title>LAST CALL: NCURA Region II Fall Meeting Bulk Registration</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><a href="https://www.ncura.edu/Education/MeetingsConferences/EventInfo.aspx?sessionaltcd=2022REGIONII" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Registration for the NCURA Region II Fall Meeting </a>is now open! This year's meeting will take place at the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware from November 6th through November 9th. <div><br></div><div>There will be over 50 concurrent sessions/discussion groups to choose from on Monday and Tuesday. There will also be 6 half-day workshops offered on Wednesday at no additional cost. This is a great value as NCURA typically charges a $125 registration fee for workshops at its Annual Meeting. </div><div><br></div><div>This will be a great opportunity to meet and network with research administrators across the region, as well as attend sessions presented by our own UMBC colleagues. Not an NCURA member?     <p>This notice informs the applicant and recipient communities
    of changes to grant application forms and application guide instructions for
    due dates on or after January 25, 2023.</p>

    changes (i.e., new/deleted/modified fields). All other forms include only an
    OMB expiration date change.</p>

    <p>For NIH, as part of the implementation of the 2023 NIH Data
    Management and Sharing Policy, a new “Other Plan(s)” attachment field has been
    added to the PHS 398 Research Plan Form and the PHS 398 Career Development
    Award Supplemental Form. Applicants must attach the required Data Management
    and Sharing Plan in this new field in FORMS-H applications. See NOT-OD-21-013
    and NOT-OD-22-189 for more information. Note: Although the 2023 NIH Data
    Management and Sharing Policy is not applicable to fellowship and institutional
    training grant applications, the new attachment field was added for potential
    future use with other plans.</p>
    
    <p>Applications submitted using the incorrect application
    package for their due date will be withdrawn and removed from funding

    <div class="html-content"><p><strong>Financial
    Conflict of Interest (FCOI) and Other Support: Reminders</strong></p>
    
    <p>Notice Number:  NOT-OD-22-210</p>
    
    <p> </p>
    
    <p><strong>Purpose:</strong></p>
    
    <p>The purpose of this Guide Notice
    is twofold: <em>(1)</em> <em>to remind the NIH extramural research community about
    the longstanding requirements provided in the financial conflict of interest
    (FCOI) regulation at 42 CFR Part 50 Subpart F, “Promoting Objectivity in Research”
    (FCOI regulation for grants and cooperative agreements).</em> This requirement
    also is included in the NIH Grants Policy Statement (NIH GPS), Section 4.1.10,
    Financial Conflict of Interest, and serves as a term and condition of NIH grant
    awards. This Notice reminds the extramural applicants and recipient
    institutions of the requirements to develop a FCOI policy, to post it on their
    website and submit it to NIH, to ensure Investigator disclosure of both foreign

    <div class="html-content"><div>We are pleased to announce a new member of our compliance group in the Office of Research Protections and Compliance (ORPC). </div><div><br></div><div>Emily Redding joined the OPRC on September 12, 2022 as a compliance specialist. Emily comes from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine and brings her experience in ensuring monitoring and compliance with human subjects protocols as well as providing assistance with submitting protocols .     <div class="html-content"><div><span>Dear Colleagues,</span></div><div><br></div><div><span>To deepen the relationships between UMBC's centers/institutes and UMBC's departments, applications are invited for a new opportunity: </span><span>the<strong> Center and Institute Departmentally-Engaged Research (CIDER)</strong> seed funding program.</span></div><div><br></div><div>CIDER principal investigators must hold primary appointments in a UMBC unit that is <strong><em>not </em></strong>degree-granting (e.g., they are primarily appointed to conduct research and/or creative activities in a UMBC center or institute). Proposals must also include at least one Co-I whose primary appointment <em>is</em> in a degree-granting department.
