    <div class="html-content"><div><p><span><span>IBC IS LIVE IN KUALI </span></span><span> <br></span></p></div><div><p><span><span>We have launched the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) module in Kuali.  The week of June 15th we moved IBC to the electronic software system, Kuali. This is a soft go live so we will be working with faculty members to get their current IBCs in the Kuali System of record. This </span><span>transition begun</span><span> the week of June 15th and will run until September. The expectation is that all faculty will have their current active IBC Protocols in the Kuali system by then.  Our IBC Division within the Office of Research Protection and Compliance (ORPC</span><span>). ORPC’s</span><span> IBC division and the RAS (Kuali) group will be assisting you with the transition of your approved protocol forms into Kuali. Please note it is important to only input materials and methods that has been previously approved by the IBC committee.     <div class="html-content"><div>Please join us in welcoming Tory Williams PhD. as the new manager of UMBC IRB effective 6/24/2024 </div><div><br></div><div>Tory Williams is transitioning to the Office of Research Protections and Compliance from the Faculty Development Center. An experienced Pedagogical Researcher, Tory has a rich history in the higher education sector, with roles encompassing Teaching, Research, and Professional Development. She is proficient in STEM Educational Reform, Experimental Design, Active Learning, Evolutionary Biology, and Quantitative Statistics. Tory is a seasoned research professional holding a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. In addition to her contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning, she plays a pivotal role in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating data for the UMBC NSF IUSE grant.</div><div><br></div><div> Dr Williams looks forward to continuing her support for UMBC's wide-ranging research initiatives. Her 16 years at UMBC, serving in various capacities across different departments, have fostered extensive faculty networking relationships, which will prove invaluable for ongoing and future IRB collaborations.</div><div><br></div><div>Dr Williams will be working alongside Emily Redding and the IRB committee to keep the IRB running smoothly.     Institutional Training Grant Applications for Due Dates on or After January 25,

    <p><strong>Purpose</strong>:</p>
    
    <p>This notice announces updates to the NIH Institutional
    Training Program applications and required training data tables. These changes
    take effect starting with submissions for due dates on or after January 25,
    2025.  The overall goal of these changes
    is to:</p>
    
    <p><span>·<span>        
    </span></span>Reduce applicant and reviewer burden. </p>
    
    <p><span>·<span>        
    </span></span>Further support the development of a biomedical
    research workforce            that will benefit from the full range of perspectives,
    experiences and             backgrounds needed to advance discovery.</p>

    </span></span>Align SF424 with updates with relevant NIH
    training grant NOFOs and           requirements.</p>

<Title>Congratulations to Cameron McAdams, OSP's New Assistant Dir.</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><span>OSP is very pleased to formally
    announce that Cameron McAdams has been selected as the new Assistant Director
    of the Office of Sponsored Programs.  Cameron joined the UMBC Office of
    Sponsored Programs as a Grants and Contracts Specialist in November 2010, 
    and was promoted to Grants &amp; Contracts Manager in 2015.  <br></span></p>
    
    <p><span>Cameron provides fourteen (14) years
    of experience in Research Administration to the AD position in OSP. It should
    be duly noted that he is also a proud alumnus of UMBC (Class of 2006, majoring
    in Modern Language and Linguistics)!<span>  </span></span></p>
    
    <p><span>Cameron has had the opportunity to
    work with nearly all of the colleges and units during his years working in OSP,
    but has spent the past nine (9) years managing the grants and contracts that
    have emanated from the College of Engineering and Information Technology
    (COEIT).<span>  </span>His astute knowledge and
    experience have been well-noted and recognized by his peers as he was recently
    nominated for the COEIT Outstanding Partnership award and had been nominated
    for Staff Employee of the Quarter as well in the past.</span></p>
    
    <p><span>Cameron’s proficiencies and
    leadership capabilities will be most welcomed in his new position as OSP
    Assistant Director. </span></p>
