<Title>Nathan Wooddell &#8217;23, graduate student</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><img alt="" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><h6><strong><em>Meet </em></strong><em>Nathan Wooddell ’<strong>23,</strong></em><strong><em> <a href="https://www.csee.umbc.edu/undergraduate/computer-science-bs/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">computer science</a>.
     Nathan is a member of UMBC’s  CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service 
    cohort, and is getting his master’s in cybersecurity as a graduate 
    researcher at the <a href="https://www.energy.gov/nnsa/national-nuclear-security-administration" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">National Nuclear Security Agency</a></em>.<em>
     Nathan attributes much of his success to the connections he’s made with
     the staff and faculty at UMBC who have helped him to discover his true 
    passions. During his time as an undergraduate at UMBC, Nathan also 
    completed a Russian language certificate, and has found a way to combine
     his interests of both cybersecurity and the Russian language in the

<Title>APPLY NOW: CoLab Narrative-Based Paid Summer Internship</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>
    			<p>CoLab is a 4-week <span><strong>paid</strong></span>
     summer narrative-based research internship for UMBC undergraduates. 
    Student interns will work on interdisciplinary project teams to conduct 
    research, create effective narratives, and develop public-facing final 
    products that support the goals of on and off campus community 
    organizations and scholars. Open to all majors, this is an excellent 
    opportunity for students in <strong>STEM</strong> fields to learn to tell effective stories and for students in <strong>social science and humanities</strong> fields to gain research and technical skills.</p>
    <p><strong>Participants receive a $3000 stipend and a tuition scholarship for a 3-credit internship course.</strong></p>
    <p><strong>Program Dates</strong><br>
    CoLab 2024 will be held during Summer Session One and meets in-person from <strong>Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 28th</strong>.
     PLEASE NOTE: During these dates, student interns are required to 
    dedicate Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm to the in-person 
    internship.</p>

    <div class="html-content"><div><strong>Present your Undergraduate Research at the 13th Annual UMBC Pi Sigma Alpha Research Conference! <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1dKvvVkTMN6ZanoZLF7LVIHh7F-WNOuaHz1c_a8PWtmg/edit" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Apply here!</a></strong></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>This year, the conference will be on<strong> April 3th from 11am to 1pm</strong> on the 2nd floor of the Policy Building. If you would like to participate,<u> <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfHPusMrR_z1PG71z24vx_vkf81S9uBfXwVNtCBFOECvk7pbA/viewform?usp=sf_link" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">please fill out this application form with your name, paper title and a brief 4-5-sentence abstract by Wednesday March </a>6th.</u>  Also, please feel free to reach out to Professor Forestiere <a href="mailto:forestie@umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">forestie@umbc.edu</a> or to Professor Anson at <a href="mailto:iganson@umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">iganson@umbc.edu</a> if you have any questions. </div><div><br></div><div>We are set to hold our <strong>14th undergraduate research conference for political science students</strong> on <strong>Wednesday, April 3th, 2024 from 11am to 1pm! </strong>All students who have written a strong research-oriented paper for any political science course or independent study are welcome to apply. Please note that it is not necessary for a student to be a member of Pi Sigma Alpha in order to participate. </div><div><br></div><div>Conference presenters usually present research that they have completed as a <strong>poster</strong> that they display on an easel to their visitors. The posters are made in <u>Microsoft's Powerpoint</u>. It's a wonderful opportunity for you to disseminate your research and discuss your ideas to a larger audience. In addition, students often use this conference to prepare for their presentations at URCAD (Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day), which will take place one week later on April 10th. </div><div><br></div><div><strong> Also, the UMBC Omicron Eta Pi Sigma Alpha group has received funding from the national organization of Pi Sigma Alpha to cover the costs associated with your participation in the conference, including the printing and mounting of your poster on a posterboard and lunch the day of the conference.</strong> Once we know who is participating, we will distribute information about how to make a poster in Powerpoint and if there is enough interest we will also hold a workshop. </div><div><br></div><div>Please consider participating if you have a strong paper from a class or other research experience that you would like to present! It's a wonderful experience for everyone - for presenters and visitors alike. </div><div><br></div></div>
