conflicts. Drawing on perspectives from environmental justice, environmental
health, and science and technology studies, this course will examine how
communities, governments, and corporations respond to environmental disasters
and their aftermaths. The course will explore how everyday experience and
scientific expertise shape the production of environmental knowledge, the power
relations that underlie environmental conflicts, the politics of corporate
social responsibility, and the ways that environmental science and technologies
shape our lives as they become incorporated into legal and medical regimes.
