<Title>October Nkisi Activation Events</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><div><div><div><div><span>CADVC will host periodic activation events of Oletha DeVane's Nkisi Woman-Universal Woman outdoor sculpture in October. </span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>During these free events, led by guest facilitators, attendees are invited to energize the sculpture by adding beads to its surface. Dates and guest facilitators include:</span><br><br><span>Thursday, 10/6, noon: Nicole Kozjar</span><br><span>Saturday, 10/8, 3pm: Camille Ollivierre</span><br><span>Saturday, 10/29, 3pm: Camille Ollivierre</span></div><div><br></div><div>Please feel welcome to join with your friends and family.<br></div></div><div><br><span>The nkisi is a Kongo cultural figure invested with sacred energy, and this sculpture will catalyze communion and community-building. <Title>Announcing Search: Assistant Professor in Percussion</Title>

    <div class="html-content">The Department of Music at UMBC announces a search for an Assistant Professor of Music (full-time, tenure track) in percussion performance, to begin August 23, 2023.  We seek candidates with a broad range of experiences and accomplishments both within and outside of the Western classical percussion tradition. Demonstrated excellence in teaching percussion is required. This individual will be a skilled soloist and chamber musician and will perform with the faculty contemporary ensemble Ruckus as well as in other faculty chamber music performances. Applicants who demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion by way of teaching, performing, publishing, or volunteer experiences are urged to submit an application.<div><br></div><div>Central to this position are maintaining an active performance career and teaching percussion lesson and percussion ensemble, with opportunities to teach in areas aligned with the candidate's expertise and the needs of the department within an undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. Current areas of need include theory and musicianship, jazz, ethnomusicology, and music history. Additional duties in advising and service are required of all faculty.</div><div><br></div><div>Salary competitive. Doctorate or M.M. with equivalent performance experience required; successful teaching of undergraduate level students or equivalent graduate training is desired.     <div class="html-content"><blockquote><div><div><p>We are excited to inform you about our new initiative, the <a href="https://www.fairleighdickinsonuplj.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><strong>Undergraduate Politics &amp; Law Journal at Fairleigh Dickinson University</strong>.  </a></p><p>The journal is intended to provide undergraduate students with an outlet to explore legal and political issues and to work alongside faculty and student editors to publish articles. The journal experience is enriching at the undergraduate level and provides undergraduate students with an entry in their scholarly portfolio. </p><p>We are accepting submissions from undergraduate students writing on contemporary topics in politics and law. <strong>Submissions must be received no later than October 15, 2022. </strong> This is a great opportunity for students doing honors work, independent studies, or those who are getting ready for a senior thesis.</p><p>We ask that submissions be made no later than October 15th, 2022.     Elinora Bolton, who at age 52, and after raising a family of 10, earned a
     BA as a member of UMBC’s first graduating class. Four sons and a 
    granddaughter of Mrs. Bolton are also <span>UMBC</span> graduates.</p>
    <p>This scholarship is awarded to <span>INDS</span> majors with an 
    approved degree plan involving significant quantitative skills 
    (preference given to students with course concentrations in mathematics 
    or science). Special attention will be given to students whose degrees
