Landscape is preferable to view the full image, but </span>portrait<span> will also be accepted. You can use PowerPoint, Canva, or another third-party application to design and save a 16:9 image. Maximum file size is 3 MB.     seeking an Academic Program Specialist (APS) for the Department of Sociology,
    Anthropology, and Public Health (SAPH). The department also houses the MA
    program in Applied Sociology and collaborates closely with the Doctoral Program
    in Gerontology.  Three core interest
    areas join the department's programs: health &amp; aging in society; diversity,
    gender &amp; culture; and applied social science research. The department
    provides a vibrant academic home for a diverse community of undergraduate and
    graduate students, staff, and faculty.</div><div><p></p><p>Working collaboratively with the program directors,
    department manager, and department chair, the APS identifies, prioritizes, and

Students admitted to the program will work as teaching fellows (TFs) and peer mentors. They will also network with UC Berkeley data science students, attend special events, and be mentored by faculty. If you're not sure yet how you'd like to spend your summer break, there are tons of options available - keep reading for more information! </p><h5>Summer Study Abroad in Japan with Dr. Oakes</h5><p>Dr. Oakes is leading a study abroad program this summer in which UMBC students can spend three weeks exploring the history and visual culture of Japan. The itinerary will take participants to Hiroshima, Nara, Kyoto, and Tokyo, including visits to temples, museums, and other important places. </p><p>Information sessions will be held on campus in the coming weeks. <strong><a href="https://goabroad.umbc.edu/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgramAngular&amp;id=44290" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Click here</a> </strong>for more details about the program and the information sessions! </p><h5>Summer Internship with the Baltimore Museum of Art</h5><p>The Baltimore Museum of Art is reinstalling its historic Asian art collection, and is hiring an intern to assist with this exciting process! It was co-edited by <strong>Kevin Wisniewski</strong>, Ph.D. '18 and is called <em>Polish Literature as World Literature</em>. <br></div><div><br></div><div>It provides an overview of Polish authors and works from the 16th century 
    to today, highlighting their contributions to and interactions with

<Title>Deadline Approaching: Baltimore Field School 2.0 Fellowship</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The <span>BFS 2.0 application is open to all UMBC graduate students, full-time staff, and full-time faculty. </span><em>Preference will be given to untenured/assistant professors to support early career work in public humanities.</em><span> </span></div><div><br></div><div>Please apply for and/or help spread the word about the Baltimore Field School (BFS) 2.0 application. <span>Sponsored by American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) </span><a href="https://www.acls.org/fellow-grantees/sarah-fouts/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Sustaining Public Engagement Grants</a><span>, BFS 2.0 seeks to create a model of ethical humanities research and teaching in Baltimore and cities like it. </span><span>The</span><a href="https://baltimorefieldschool.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> Baltimore Field School</a><span> 2.0 is the second iteration of a planning intensive focusing on building collaborative public humanities projects and developing the field school programming with our </span><a href="https://baltimorefieldschool.org/?page_id=2813" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">8 Community Fellows.</a><span> </span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>The application link is provided <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc35LiTHCJcbA7IGDuOfLEJmog8toxEao8tyHAtNGz8tarTKg/viewform?usp=sf_link" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">here</a> and is due on <strong>1/31/23 by 11:59 PM.</strong> A cohort of 11 fellows will be selected in February 2023 and each fellow will receive a $3,000 stipend.</span></div><div><br></div><div>BFS Fellow responsibilities:<br><br>1. Attend the Baltimore Field School 2.0 event in Spring 2023.<div>2. Attend the summer institute for one week in July 2023. The in-person institute will offer meetings, panels, and work sessions and optional programming and events with community partners.<br>3. Attend a reconvening for one day in September.<br>4. Give feedback on the project through a pre- and post-evaluation and submit suggestions for future programming.<br><br>BFS Fellows should bring interest in or an idea for a public humanities project and/or course focusing on the Baltimore area.
