We will examine the origins and development of those concepts and empirical work on the sociology of gender in the last three decades. Intersectional feminist theories and research will be emphasized, as we examine how gender is socially constructed within ethno-racial contexts. Students will also be introduced to global/transnational concerns, studies of masculinities, the body and sexuality studies.</div></div></div></div>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The UMBC Department of Music is seeking an affiliate artist position in classical guitar to begin Fall 2023. Bachelor’s required and advanced degrees or equivalent professional experience preferred.  Evidence of successful teaching at the University level preferred.  The position will include teaching of guitar majors and non-majors, possible performances with RUCKUS, the faculty new music ensemble, and other opportunities based on expertise.</div><br>

<Title>Lauren Pollak successfully presents her</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The Language, Literacy, and Culture Program is pleased to announce that <strong>Lauren Pollak</strong> of Cohort 23 successfully and skillfully presented her dissertation research proposal to her committee on May 1, 2023.</div><div><br></div><div>Lauren's project is titled, <em>An Intersectional Ethnographic Study of Community College Students who Self-Place into Co-Requisite Composition Courses at the Community College of Baltimore County.</em><br></div><div><br></div><div>After her presentation, Lauren had a substantive discussion with the committee about the next stages of her work.
