<Title>AI4ALL opportunity in AI &amp; Career-Readiness for undergrads!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><br></div><br><div><div>UMBC and nonprofit <a href="https://ai-4-all.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><strong>AI4ALL</strong></a> have partnered to offer undergraduate students in any major the opportunity to apply to the <strong>Discover AI program, </strong><span>which will take place during the Fall 2023 semester</span>.  Programming experience is not required.<span> </span><span>The ten-week program starts on <span><strong>September</strong></span></span><strong> <span>29</span></strong><span> and includes synchronous meetings on Fridays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and asynchronous instruction. No </span>UMBC course credit will be given for participating in the program. <span>You must apply</span> online <strong>by September 18, 2023</strong>.<span> </span></div><div><br></div><div><div><div><span><p><span>What is AI4ALL Discover AI?</span></p><p><span><br></span></p>Discover AI is a virtual project-based program in partnership with UMBC that offers a hands-on introduction to computer science and artificial intelligence (AI), ethical issues surrounding AI implementation, and tech careers. In Discover AI, students work in groups on an AI/Machine Learning project based on real-life applications of AI that the students find curious.<br></span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Students get access to AI industry leaders and are guided through </span><span>a roadmap </span><span>to cultivate</span><span> a future career in the AI industry.</span><span> </span><span>Through research, discussions, and reflection, you will </span><span>explore the intersectionality of AI with other fields and articulate your own mindful perspective of AI. </span><span>The following questions are proposed: </span><span>What are both </span><span>AI technology's</span><span> positive and negative implications on society?</span><span> </span><span>How can (and does) AI affect communities in </span><span>today's</span><span> world? </span></div><div><p><span> </span></p><p><span>Why should students consider the AI4ALL Discover AI program?</span></p><p><span><br></span></p>Upon completion, participants receive an AI4ALL Discover AI certificate of completion and the opportunity to opt-in to <a href="https://bit.ly/44VKfzA" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Spring 2024's AI4ALL Ignite</a> - a virtual accelerator that offers Undergraduate students the chance to work on an AI portfolio project with mentorship from AI industry experts. <Title>Join the UMBC Choral Program!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Are you interested in singing at UMBC? We have three choirs at UMBC (Jubilee Singers, Gospel Choir, and Camerata). We welcome singers from all vocal styles and experience levels. The UMBC Choirs are a great way to build community, make friends, and experience excellent music making. All the choirs rehearse and perform in <a href="https://kuula.co/share/collection/7PvDl?fs=1&amp;vr=0&amp;zoom=1&amp;sd=1&amp;autorotate=-0.13&amp;thumbs=1&amp;margin=13&amp;chromeless=0&amp;logo=1&amp;logosize=195" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Linehan Concert Hall</a>, count for course credit, and perform at various UMBC events.</div><br>

Students admitted to the program will work as teaching fellows (TFs) and peer mentors. They will also network with UC Berkeley data science students, attend special events, and be mentored by faculty. The DSS program welcomes undergraduate scholars from multiple disciplines, including the social sciences, looking at all aspects of data and its impact on society.</span></p><p><strong><span>Responsibilities:</span><span> </span></strong></p><ul><li><span>Scholars will work as TFs and peer mentors for undergraduate students in IS296 Foundations of Data Science. The class meets Mo/We 1-2:15 pm. The cohort of DSS scholars will meet as a group with the IS296 instructor. Scholars will be paid $15/hour for specific TF tasks, for 5-10 hours per week in Fall 2022.</span></li><li><span>Social science DSS scholars will attend at least two CS3 events in Fall 2022 and/or participate in research initiatives with social science faculty.
