    <div class="html-content">Postdoc, Dr. Imad Aoude in Dr. Weihong Lin's lab is among five postdoctoral fellows to receive the Polak Postdoctoral Travel Award for attending a national meeting of Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS, 2014).<br><br><p>
    					The purpose of the Polak Postdoctoral Travel Award is to encourage innovative science at the
     annual conference by postdoctoral researchers by supporting 
    travel-associated expenses of the fellow. The Councilors will select up 
    to five postdoctoral researchers based upon the scientific merit of 
    their abstract submission and their career commitment to the chemical 
    senses field as determined from their curriculum vitae.</p>
    				
    					Funding for these awards is generously provided by the Polak Foundation.<br>

<Title>Goldwater Scholarship Recipients</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Congratulations to Michael Moubarek and Akua Nimarko for receiving the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship.  Michael is a Biochemistry &amp; Molecular Biology major and Akua is a Biological Sciences major and is an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Weihong Lin's lab.<br><br>The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship program accepts applications from sophomores and juniors (defined as students who expect to spend one to two more years to complete their undergraduate degrees).  The program is named for former Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater, who was committed to encouraging Americans to pursue careers in science and mathematics.  Goldwater Scholars receive 1-2 years of support for college expenses, up to $7,500 per year.<br><br>More importantly, they receive a crucial stamp of approval indicating that they have the potential to excel nationally and internationally as scholars, researchers, and professors in their respective fields.  A significant number of Goldwater Scholars later competed successfully for prestigious graduate fellowships and scholarships, such as the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships.<br><br>

    <div class="html-content">Suzanne Rosenberg is currently an organizer for the International Keystone Conference, "Immune Evolution in Cancer" being held in Whistler Canada, March 10-14, 2014 and will give a plenary talk entitled: "Inflammation and Alarmins as Drivers of Immune-Suppressive Myeloid Cells and Tumor Progression".<br><br>She has been invited to give a keynote talk entitled:  "Inflammation, immune suppression and cancer:  It's the RAGE", at the up-coming 2014 Annual meeting of the Translational Research Cancer Centers Consortium in Seven Springs, PA Feb. 19-21, 2014.  <br><br>Earlier this month, she gave an invited seminar at the The NIH, Feb 5, 2014 entitled:  
    "Inflammation-induced immune suppression in cancer:  "It's the RAGE".<br><br>Last month, Sue gave a plenary talk entitled: "Inflammation, alarmins, and
