<Title>Presidential Management Fellows Program</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span>The PMF program (select hiring program for the U.S. govt. - Masters and Ph.D. level) application opens today.  </span><div><span><br></span></div><div><p>From Sept. 30 to Oct. 14<span>th</span>, 2020, the Presidential Management Fellows application for the program’s Class of 2021 will be posted. The entire initial application process, including submission of all necessary documents, must be completed by October 14<span>th</span>.</p><p>The PMF Program was established by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order_(United_States)" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Executive Order</a> in 1977 and amended by Executive Order in 2003 to attract to the Federal service outstanding citizen-scholars from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. Program regulations were amended again in December 2010 by Executive Order<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Management_Fellows_Program#cite_note-5" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>[5]</span></a> establishing the PMF Program as one of the three student Pathways to federal employment. By drawing graduate students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, the PMF Program provides a continuing source of trained men and women to meet the future challenges of public service.</p><p>The PMF Program is a flagship leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates. It was created more than three decades ago by Executive Order and has gone through many changes over the years.</p><hr><p>What Do You Want to Change About Government?</p><p><span>What Will You Give?</span></p><p>You will give the best you have to give to a cause greater than yourself. You will bring fresh, new ideas and a willingness to take on challenges never dreamed possible.  Your zeal for the position will serve to spark new energy and excitement in your co-workers. As part of the PMF “fraternal order,” you will portray your elite status through the quality of your work and service to your country. <Title>How to Pick-up Resources from AOK Library</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><br></div><div><p>There will be a tent in Parking Lot 7 past the Walker parking garage on Walker Avenue.     <div class="html-content">UMBC is establishing a student online learning working group to consider what additional support and resources we might provide to students adapting to the remote learning environment for the Fall 2020 semester. This group, Fostering Online Learning Improvement and Opportunity (FOLIO),  will consist of a cohort of volunteer student peers, both undergraduate and graduate, who serve as a “brain trust”, for other students seeking information and resources regarding how to become successful, virtual learners in the time of COVID. <div><br></div><div>This group which will consist of members drawn from all colleges, UAA, FDC, DOIT, Student Affairs, Student Disability Services, undergraduate and graduate student representatives and faculty senate representatives.</div><div><br></div><div>The committee is now currently seeking Student Ambassadors to join an online working group to serve in a peer-mentor role, to offer advice or connections to students looking for information. </div><div><strong><em><br></em></strong></div><div><strong><em>We are seeking a diverse group of student perspectives so if you are interested please email <a href="mailto:gsa@umbc.edu">gsa@umbc.edu</a>! </em></strong></div></div>

<Title>Seeking Graduate Senators for 2020-2021</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The GSA is seeking applications for senators who will serve throughout the next academic year. Such senators would have the following general responsibilities as they represent either their college or the general interests of all graduate students at UMBC:</div><div><br></div><div>1) Attend monthly meetings of the Graduate Senate between August 2020 and May 2021.</div><div>2) Work with other senators to host town halls between August 2020 and May 2021 aimed at gathering input and feedback from graduate students</div><div>3) Serve on at least one university committee</div><div>4) Other tasks as assigned by the Graduate Senate or Executive Council (such as following up on an issue or comment)</div><div><br></div><div>Senators who fulfill these responsibilities will be eligible to receive a stipend of $200 per semester.</div><div><br></div><div>Note that as the campus remains closed, the GSA Senate will plan to conduct business virtually (this will include meetings, town halls, events, etc). As any changes are announced, the GSA Executive Council will be sure to keep the GSA Senate informed.     <div class="html-content"><h4>GSA Executive Council Elections will occur remotely next Thursday May 21 at 1 pm on Google Meet. </h4><div><br></div><div>More instructions to follow, including login instruction, as we get closer to the event. Anyone is allowed to participate. Those that are running for a position are required to attend.
