SPARTANBURG, S.C.�UMBC junior Stephanie Weigman (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) allowed just two hits and struck out eight, but the UMBC softball team (0-1) dropped its season opener to host USC Upstate (2-1) by a score of 3-1 on the first day of the Campus Suites Spartan Classic.
