BALTIMORE � UMBC senior captain Claire Barron of the women's swimming and diving team was named the UMBC Athlete of the Month for January 2013, in a poll conducted from Feb. 1-8. Barron won the vote over men's swimming's Mohamed Hussein, women's basketball's Raven Harris, track and field's Mercedes Jackson and Trae Proctor, and men's basketball's Brian Neller.
