Cambridge, Mass.- UMBC face-off specialist Phil Poe (Harwood, Md./DeMatha) has been named America East Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today. Poe tied a school record by winning 22 face-offs in the 17-16 overtime victory over Albany. Moreover, his 15 ground balls recorded are the most since Nick Brownlee scooped a school-record 18 vs. VMI in 1997. The 22 face-off wins are tied for the sixth-most in a Division I single game in 2012.
