In eight prior seasons of America East lacrosse, UMBC has met Albany 13 times and the two perennial league powers have developed a healthy rivalry. The two squads meet at UMBC Stadium on Saturday, April 21, and as usual, there is a lot at stake for both teams. The Retrievers (4-6, 2-1 AE) are looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Stony Brook and sew up their ninth consecutive league tournament berth, while Albany (3-8, 3-0 AE) seeks to extend its winning streak to four and stay atop the America East standings. Moreover, it is Senior Day at UMBC, as four-year lettermen Rob Grimm, Brian McCullough and Aaron Verardi will be honored in pregame ceremonies. The game will be televised live locally by the Live Well Network, broadcast live on News Radio 1370 (www.v1370.com) and is also available on www.umbcetrievers.tv. The ceremonies begin at 1:00 p.m., with the game to follow.
