UMBC is the yearly host for Maryland's FIRST LEGO League's (MDFLL) state championship. As part of the yearly FLL challenge, kids (ages 9 - 14) design and build LEGO robots to autonomously complete a variety of prescribed challenges. As the head referee for Maryland FLL, I recruit and train referees for the state championship and for local qualifiers. I also need people to build the field kits that are used in robot matches.
Let me know how you'd like to help (and feel encouraged to be part of multiple opportunities):
- Referee at the state championship - Saturday, January 19
- Referee at a qualifying match - each Sat from Dec 1 - Jan 12 (and Sun, Jan 13)
- Build field kits - I'll give you a pile of LEGOs with instructions on models to build
