Finals are Here!
Classes have ended for Fall 2021 - you made it! This was a very challenging semester as we all adjusted to being around people again in a not-quite-normal way. We are proud of you and everything you accomplished! As you study, don't forget to rub True Grit's nose for a little luck. If you aren't on campus, we've got a picture of him attached to this message so that you can boop his nose from home, too.
Need a Study Break?
Today (right now!) from 11-2, visit the AOK library for yoga, snacks, a visit from local celebrity Officer Chip, crafts, and giveaways.
The Office of Health Promotion is hosting Snack Breaks this week - today 12-3, and tomorrow and Thursday 10-3 - at their space in the Center for Wellbeing. Drop in to say hello, and grab some good food and a hot drink between study sessions.
OCAMocha is doubling their regular student discount this week. Visit them in downtown Arbutus and enjoy a whopping 20% off from now through December 21. Plus, today (Dec 14) only, they're running a BOGO special if you show your campus card and their instagram flyer. Enjoy a delicious coffee or the best hot chocolate in town, and relax in their cheerful space.

Asian Studies Fall 2021 Midterms Week Updates
Advising, Winter Session Reg Opens, Stress-busting Ideas!
The weather finally feels like autumn here on campus, and the semester continues rolling along. Best wishes to you all as you navigate your midterms!
Spring 2022 Registration Is Coming
The schedule for Spring 2022 classes will go live on Monday, October 25 (next week!). Registration starts on November 2, but registration clearance appointments and advising are available now! Visit our handy guide to make sure you'll be ready when your registration time begins!
Winter Session Registration - Now Open!
Are you thinking about taking a winter class, either to catch up, or get ahead? Registration for Winter 2022 is now open. You don't need registration clearance for Winter classes, but you're welcome to make an appointment with Dr. Oyen to talk about ways that a Winter class might fit into your plans.
Midterms - How's Your Semester Going?
Midterms can be a stressful time, as you juggle lots of deadlines, projects, and exams all at once. There are lots of resources on and around campus to help you manage your time and stress and succeed - here's a few that might be of interest this time of year:
- Check out the Counseling Center for help with managing time and stress, or visit their Mind Spa if you just need a space to relax someplace quiet for a little while. Someone is available any time, day or night, if you need them.
- Take a study break! Visit the RAC, explore campus's green spaces, or wander over to Arbutus to get a cup of coffee at OCA Mocha.
- Need some help with class? The Academic Success Center is your one-stop shop for help with everything from writing to tutoring to academic advocacy on your behalf. Visit them in Sherman Hall 345, or set up an appointment online.
ASCOM Meetings This Fall
Interested in meeting other students interested in Asian Studies? Check out ASCOM, the Asian Studies Council of Majors! They meet regularly throughout the semester in Fine Arts 558 on Fridays at noon, and new members are always welcome.
Upcoming Dates and Deadlines
- Now through January 6: Winter session registration is open.
- Now through February 4: Advising and registration clearance for Spring 2022 classes.
- October 22 (Monday): Spring 2022 schedule available online.
- November 2: Spring 2022 registration begins.
