UMBC Camerata performs Carl Orff's Carmina Burana
The Department of Music presents the UMBC Camerata under the direction of Stephen Caracciolo. The Camerata will perform a lengthy suite of movements from Carl Orff's youthful and exuberant cantata Carmina Burana. The performance will feature the two-piano/percussion version of the work with the UMBC Percussion Ensemble conducted by Tom Goldstein, supplying the heart pounding, thrilling power to this audience favorite.
Additionally the Camerata will present a selection of John Duke songs featuring soprano Colleen McKenna: "I Carry Your Heart," "I Can't Be Talkin' of Love," and "The Loveliest of Trees." Also featured will be Bruce Hamilton'sEDGE (Corrugated Box) for multi-percussion soloist and tape, with percussionist Zachary Shanks.
The UMBC Camerata is a select chamber choir of 35-45 singers that performs great choral literature in a variety of styles, from Renaissance motets to avant-garde contemporary works
