I mean look at us commonfolk. When we have an affair and illegitimate child, we have to bust our butts in the cubicle/factory to support our mistress who has a taste for designer shoes and to pay that child support!
But politicians, maaan, they've got it good. They can just take federal and state funds to hide their mistresses and illegitimate children.
Kind of like John Edwards who was busted for using campaign donations to coverup a past affair and lovechild.
If he had admitted his affair the old fashioned way (i.e. getting caught with lipstick stains on his shirt collar, acting shady, not calling his wife 'baby'), he may have faced a folder of divorce papers and a night on the couch. Luckily for Edwards, after the unfortunate death of his wife in 2010, he got to spend another year on a pillow top. However now that the cat's out of the bag, he faces charges and any hopes of candicacy have gone down the drain.
This just goes to show that it's the coverup that gets you landed, not the crime*.
*Note: The offense of showing a concealer-less face only after the wedding actually has the reverse effect.
