A college in Tennessee is actually cutting tuition to its students to make itself look like a better choice for applicants that have a greater amount of options when it comes to college acceptances and choices.
Points:
1. Sewanee College has larger competitors for applicants. Similar to UMBC's competitors which include UMD and Salisbury, as well as USG.
2. UMBC's cost is rapidly approaching that of nearby competitors, namely its rival institution, which used to be around $3000 higher.
3. Students who must pay for themselves will have to choose then between a growing university, or one that already has a name.
