I found it very interesting to get this bit of perspective. Rhett Allain is a blogger and physics professor I've been subscribing to for a while and quite admire his attitude and accessibility. One of my favorite bits of advice for us students: "It doesn’t really matter which instructor you get for a course. Really, that might make 10% difference in the outcome. What matters much more is what YOU do in the course." In other (perhaps more callous) words, stop giving ratemyprofessor.com so much credit, stop blaming your professor for your experience in the class, and take responsibility for your own education.
