Hii Its Me Again =) I think you guys should know I will be on here ALLL Summer!
Ok. My daddy is thinking about buying me a new laptop to bring with me... right now he is considering the Netbook.. those really small lappytaps. I wanted to know if anybody had one, how does it work, do they like it... Are there any other types of laptops you all would reccommend.
I need one that is relatively compact, lightweight, has at least a three hour long battery life, and is dependable ( no blue screens of death, or freezing, or not working if you spill your cup of milk thats not supposed to be next to it on it...).
Thanks for any responses =)
P.S. I would prefer a non Windows computer because I use Linux.. but i do understand that for some classes I will need Windows programs...

You could get a Linux computer and use VirtualBox to run whatever Windows software you need. But really, there isn't much Windows software that you would need that doesn't have a decent Linux equivalent. OpenOffice, for instance, is just as good as Microsoft Office and can handle all the same file extensions. You can probably find Linux builds of MatLab and most IDE's you might need for programming classes (depending on your major).
I've been using Dell laptops for years but they don't have a very high battery life. Mine is a Studio XPS 1640, neither compact nor very portable unfortunately lol. But Dell does make a couple of NetBooks which may or may not be good, I've never really used any of them.
Probably the best small laptop you can get is a Macbook. They're reliable and they have really long battery life. And you should be able to install Linux on them. I wouldn't spill milk on it though... :)
