Welcome Week?

What Happns during Welcome Week for freshman and transfers. Other than getting settled into out dorm rooms and meet and greet what else takes place?
Do we get to meet our professors, or do we like, play fun group support building exercises?
Also What is the New Student Book Experience Book we have to read this year? Is the discussion mandatory ( I love to read and will be going)? What transpires? Do we learn anything new during this week?

Alright listen. Welcome Week can be lame. We all know this. I'm a Woolie and I think it's lame, but that isn't the point. The point of Welcome Week isn't to have the most fun ever or to experience an intense instant transition into the college life. You shouldn't go into it expecting that. You should view it as an opportunity to meet and network with people you are going to spend a lot of time with for the next four years.
Trust me, the UMBC structure of social life is dependent on getting to know people early. Don't try to be too cool for Welcome Week and skip out, you'll end up missing the boat and either regretting going to a school that "wasn't cool enough for you" or transferring.
I'm going into my fifth year and over the past two years every student leader, every Greek Life member, every club sports athlete, every SGA officer went to Welcome Week, sat through the team-building exercises and awkward introductions, and was better for it.
Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to rack up alcohol citations in your dorm rooms and skinny dip in the outdoor pool in the dead of winter. Don't be too cool for your own week of free food and networking.
Yea, the book discussion is easy to sneak away from. However, every year one group gets coupled with the President. Don't be stupid and miss an opportunity to get to know him early.
