Half hour parking on new electronic meters

When I'm in an absolute rush, or on days when I only have one class, I prefer to pay for parking rather than dedicating 20 mins trying to find a free spot. I love that I can pay to park with my card, with the exception of admin because they aren't done with construction yet, but I wanted to know if there is a way to pay for partial hrs of parking.
2$/hr is higher than the parking price in admin (the old meters) and it's upsetting to pay 4$ for my parking time of an hr and 15mins.
Thoughts? Answers?
