Chivalrous men on UMBC Campus
posted about 10 years ago
I really don't think that men get enough praise when they possess skills that just cannot be taught. Of course, "some" men learn at home how to respect women, themselves and others in general, but there are certain aspects of a person's personality that cannot be taught.
I want to just give a big shout out to the young men that I have come across on UMBC campus that have been most accommodating to me. The following are a few instances:
1.) I was entering The Commons. I just had a bag in my hand, nothing major. This young man had a stack of books in his hand, put them all down and held the door for me. I made it my duty to say THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR!
2.) I was in True Grits with my mom and my 2 month old son. As we were getting up, this young man came up to us and said; "Ladies, let me get the plates and cups for you." Both me and my mom made it our duty to say THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR!
3.) Alot of times I'm in my own world, slow poking it during my lunch hour. I have had men at UMBC literally wait while I walk like a snail! And I do make it my duty to tell them, please don't wait..I'm just lollygagging. Still, they insist that they hold the door! Of course, I pick up the pace out of respect.
I just want to say THANK YOU SINCERELY to the Men of UMBC who practice chivalry as if it were second nature!
