placement test scores/classs choice

if my placement test scores place me into math106, but my teachers say that i should definately go into calculus, can i still sign up for calculus at orientation even though placement tests put me in math106?

Hello,
I am the coordinator for the Math Placement Testing, if you placed into Math 106, the system at UMBC will not allow you sign up for any course above your placement, so you will be required to start at Math 106.
We do offer a challenge test though, you are welcome to retake the Math Placement Exam by emailing dabeck@umbc.edu and saying that you would like to challenge your placement. You can only challenge once, so do make sure you study a bit before retaking it.
