'atheism'...
why does this word used more often than theism?

Warning: No, I'm not trying to spread 'atheism' to anyone. Don't worry about it.
Just curious. Why does the word atheism have to be used more often than theism? It means not believing in god, so it's like not having a religion (duh). Wouldn't it make more sense to use a word referring to having a religion? Theism. yes this word actually exists. but who uses it? well this was my first time using this word EVER.
Does this mean atheists are considered to have chosen special way of living? like how there's a word vegetarian, referring to person who only eat vegetables (considered "special"), but no word for people who eat both vegetables and meat (considered "normal")? as if to say having a religion is normal, but not having a religion isn't?
What's your opinion on this?
p.s: There's a reason why I didn't mention whether I'm an atheist. Don't let this discussion be 'whose religion is better' b.s.. I think majority of people here are mature, but considering what I've seen...well, just be aware.
Just to give people more background, I've never bother to care till I saw maybe 5 videos about religion on YouTube. I just found out recently that religion was actually a big topic in real life lol
