Candidate Campaign Speeches

<Tagline>Vote here for your future officers!</Tagline>

Here are the candidates for the coming year's officer positions! Voting will be open tomorrow, April 24th until April 30th. The ballot is a google form accessed at the bottom of this post. Here are the candidates campaign speeches:

Ethan Stubbs running for Vice President or Treasurer: Hi everybody, my name is Ethan, I'm a freshman, and I'm a political science major with an ancient studies minor. I've always had a passion for history, specifically that of the ancient world. Now that I'm in college I hope to continue that passion, especially by helping out with the Ancient Studies council by holding office. If I am elected I hope to expand the events offered by the Ancient Studies council. I would also like to increase the amount of promotion for Ancient Studies events, such as displaying leaflets around UMBC. I have experience with helping run and lead multiple clubs and sports. In high school I was a vice captain of my schools esports team, and I was responsible for keeping in order who was doing what and when as well as recruitment. I was also a leader in my schools tennis team where I helped teach the underclassman and help lead the team. I am also good at organization and keeping everything I need to get done in order. All in all, I hope you vote for me.

Julia Labuda running for President or Secretary: Hi I’m Julia Labuda, I’m in my 4th year, and I am an Ancient Studies major. I would be great for President since I have had so much experience being in this club as the Secretary for 3 years now. I’ve seen the different ways the club has been run by multiple presidents and the amount of time and effort it takes to put into being president of this club. I have more than enough motivation to put that effort into this role. I also know that creativity is part of this role as well, and I would like to expand the club’s roster of events to new things. I also would be a great candidate for Secretary, since I have those 3 years of experience. I’m great at communicating with others, both in person and over email, and I enjoy writing the events/announcements we post.

Since we only have 2 people in the running, we will announce which 2 positions are left unfilled after elections are over. At that point, whoever emails the club with interest in those positions will be able to fill those positions, first come first served.

Thank you to all that applied to this year's election! If you have any questions regarding voting, about the election in general, or the future details of the unfilled positions please contact our secretary at jlabuda1@umbc.edu

Voting Ballot here: https://forms.gle/y8C4ZF1FD7CehWKy8
