Acts 2:42-47
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Reflection:
We see the community of Christians living out of the flash point experiences they had received – the pouring out and filling of His Spirit. They kept experiencing flash points of God’s love and power for them in all of these elements of church life described in the verses. As they did, others were invited to see what God was doing and the Lord Himself added to their number daily. This is our desire for our church. As we continue to live experiencing more of God’s flash points of love and power, being filled with His Spirit that we will be like the early church. And as we live this out, others will be able to see what God is doing and the Lord will add to those who are being saved.
Response:
Let’s pray for more devotion to living out His word, praying, sharing, getting together, praising God- all the things we see the early church living out. As we do, let’s trust the Lord that as we live faithfully as His community, as His children of Light, the Lord will add to our churches those who are being saved.
