1 Timothy 6:17-20 (NIV)
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. 20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge
Reflection:
What would you choose to put your hope in - wealth that is uncertain or in God, who abundantly give us all that we need, and so much more? The answer seems so obvious, yet at times we have to be reminded again and again that it is God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. God has poured out His generosity towards us and we ought to live a life that is rich towards God. We can live this out practically by generously sharing what we have received with others and do good to all those around us. What a wonderful way to live this life as we store up treasures in heaven. Let’s take hold of the life that is truly life.
Response:
We have been abundantly blessed by our Father in heaven. Let’s pray that we will recognize more and more that God is the provider of all things and ask for His help to live our lives generously to those around us.
