So, how do we enter/receive this saving love of God? According to God’s word, though God’s love is poured upon the world/us in compassion, there is a proper human response that is essential in our receiving and living in the love of God. In Romans 10:9,10 it says , “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” The declaring with your mouth that Jesus is Lord is a clear response that every Christian must make, however this is not simply a speaking of the statement ‘Jesus is Lord’ that brings salvation. For even Jesus said many who say Lord, Lord will not inherit the kingdom of God (Matthew 7:21). Rather the word ‘declare’ with our mouths means to make verbally (outwardly) known that which we have come to believe in our hearts (inwardly). Therefore, the proper human response is to declare and to believe, which means that there ought to be a real life evidence/expression of God’s love in our lives by the way the transformation in our lives make that declaration. Hence, without transformation, there is no real declaration of living faith! However, even in this, our dependence is upon God’s faithful love, that brings about his conviction, empowering, and the desire to now live in response to God’s love.
Today pray in response to John 3:16, and let’s humbly ask for real evidences of transformation in our lives.
