The definition of ‘neighbor’ was very different in the bible compared to how Americans have come to understand and define the word ‘neighbor.’ In our present day context, a neighbor is someone who lives either next door to you, or within your cul-de-sac. However, the biblical definition of a neighbor were those to whom you had a personal responsibility to show mercy and compassion towards (Leviticus 19). For today’s transmission, watch this testimony of Lacey Sturm. As you watch, consider the ways in which different people were used of God to be a neighbor for her, where they felt a personal responsibility to either preach or pray God’s compassionate heart towards her. Also, consider the depth of God’s mercy and compassion as she shares the gospel—of the way Jesus rescued her.
