Matthew 13:1-7 (NIV) - “That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: ‘A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop-a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.’”
As we read the parable of the sower, we can get bit discouraged by the number of seeds that do not produce fruit. We may wonder, is it worth sharing our story? What is important to recognize is that the seed, the gospel, willproduce crop on good soil and the harvest will be worth it! The amount of crop produced is a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
When we tell our stories of what Christ has done for us and sharing the gospel, we are planting and sowing seeds. Do we realize that Jesus who came to save me personally is also the Savior or the world? As we are telling our stories of how God has changed our lives, do we give opportunities for others to see that Jesus is the Savior of the world, to help our friends make the connection?
Today, let’s consider how we can tell our stories so that others can recognize that Jesus is the Savior of the world! Let’s be renewed in our commitment to announce the Good News of His salvation. Let’s commit to earnestly pray for opportunities to share our story and to sow faithfully in anticipating the harvest.
